Michael E. Jones (aka Mike) is a native of Los Angeles, California. Born to Hattie Mae Jones ofAustin, Texas. The middle child of three. Born on May 14, 1956.

Mike’s love of music allowed him to meet Cardella Di Milo, a local entertainer and host. He became her protégé for many years. Cardella’s shows were known for famous entertainers and celebrities making cameo appearances and performances. Mike met the following legendary entertainers; Ruth Brown, Scatman Crothers, Fred Williamson Esther Phillips, Gloria Lynne, Bernadette Stanis, Mel Carter, Reynaldo Rey, Louis McKay and many more. Mike attended Manual Arts High school majoring in music. His focus was voice and music composition. 

Mike wrote the song for his graduating class “It’s Time to Say Goodbye”. He competed in talent shows and was the headlining singer for the school’s band and orchestra.

During his high school days, he danced on Don Cornelius’ Soul Train Show for three years. Mike was fortunate enough to make friends and travel to the home of the Jackson Five. Mike Attended Los Angeles City College and majored in Music and minored in Business Administration. 

Mike attended Southwest College and enrolled in American Sign Language. Shortly after completing the course and graduation, he was hired as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Educational Center for the Deaf. He worked with that organization from 1980-1988. He truly loved that job, funding was discontinued, and the agency was closed.Mike soon joined the Minority AIDS Project in September 1989. He was hired during the peak of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Mike experienced huge loses of friends, partners, and relatives.

When asked why he joined the agency, he stated “I just want to help, I want to do something to change the lives of others”. During his years at the organization, Mike has held the following positions: Receptionist, Volunteer Coordinator, Office Manager, Human Resources Director,

Program Manager, Project Director, and Administrative Assistant. Mike has received numerous acknowledgements, certificates, and awards from; The late Tom

Bradley, Supervisor Kenneth Hahn, Dianne Feinstein, California George Deukmajan, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Supervisor Yvonne Burke. Mike is the Executive Assistant to Elaine Gibbs, a nationally recognized entertainer and singer. Mike loves working Elaine as she shares her incredible voice and musical gifts with the world.
